Okay, I'll jump on the Christmas mp3 bandwagon. Sort of. Here are a couple global tunes on the theme. If you don't know about Bahamian guitarist Joseph Spence, go get more of his music without delay! He may not remember all the words (or perhaps is being intentionally minimialist), but his growly voice and splendid off-kilter guitar picking create something truly sublime, with a sound one critic described as "like a delirious sea captain, a Delta bluesman on a tear, or a malfunctioning record player." And Ry Cooder called Spence "one of my all-time great inspirations." Check out the Spence discography for more gems. I know nothing about the Valencia City Buskers, except that this song was gathered by Alan Lomax and presented on an album of holiday songs he recorded between 1950 and 1964 during his global musical journeys.
