We were joined in the studio this week by master drummer/musician/teacher Obo Addy of Ghana. Now residing in Portland, OR, Addy in 1996 became the first African to receive the
National Heritage Fellowship Award by the National Endowment for the Arts. This is the highest honor a traditional artist can receive in the USA. Now 71 years young, he continues to teach, perform with his groups Okropong and Kukrudu, and run the nonprofit HOMOWO African Arts and Cultures.
