Top 10 Global Albums, June 2012

Yes, it's that time of month again. Welcome to the June edition of the SoundRoots / Spin The Globe

Top 10 Global / "World Music" CDs of the Month!

  1. Maga Bo: Quilombo do Futuro
  2. Tribali: Festa
  3. Somerville Symphony Orkestar: Somerville Symphony Orkestar
  4. Ba Cissoko: Nimissa
  5. The Bombay Royale: You Me Bullets Love
  6. Annbjorg Lien: Khoom Loy
  7. Ablaye Cissoko & Volker Goetze: Amanke Dionti
  8. Aziza Brahim: Mabruk
  9. Kabbalah: Boxes, Bagels & Elephants
  10. Ecco La Musica: Morning Moon

Maga Bo is a holdover from last month, but jetted to the top given the CD's penchant for creating a summer dance party whenever it hits the speakers. You'll notice a few new names on the list as well. I don't have time to write about each one now, but those which have not yet been featured on SoundRoots will soon have their day in the sun.

Note that you can hear selections from all of these albums by tuning into Spin The Globe this Friday morning, or catching the show's audio archive later.
